We literally stole this name from the French word for this type of cabinet — then we butchered it by adding a hyphen! We were inspired to build this armoire (another French word) from antique armoires that we imported for a time from the Baltic countries. The cabinet has three installed shelves at even intervals which can be removed (but not adjusted). Included is also a hanging rod at the top which can be used when the shelves are removed. The two lower drawers are a little additional storage running on central wood glides.
It is made of solid wood, including all components of the door as well as the back. We choose our pieces carefully so that it there are no knots bleeding through for lighter finishes, and the warmth and character of the wood is enhanced for stain finishes. The Garde-robe will have wood knobs installed as default, unless you add something different to the cart. Although the website shows limited options, you can pick any of our finishes.
